Both floaters are easy. Red root floaters are the fussier one: they need light and dislike splashing water.

The Pack
Two easy floating plants in one order: Red Root Floaters and Salvinia cucullata. Together they shade the tank, soak up nitrate and give the surface a mix of small round leaves that blush red and green, cup-shaped ones. Neither needs CO2.

What's Inside
Red Root Floaters: round leaves and trailing roots that turn red under strong light; likes 72–82°F, pH 6.0–7.5 and medium to high light. Salvinia cucullata: a fast-spreading floating fern with cupped green leaves; likes 60–82°F, pH 6.0–7.8 and low to medium light.

Why Shrimp Keepers Like It
Floaters are some of the best nitrate sponges a shrimp tank can have. Their roots give shrimplets cover and a surface to graze biofilm, and the shade calms shy shrimp. Keep flow gentle and scoop out extra growth so plants below still get light.
