This item is provided by our friends at AquaticMotiv ↗ (opens in a new tab) (Price Matched)
The Plant
A hybrid sword bred from Echinodorus schlueteri 'Leopard' and Echinodorus barthii. It has the wide leaves swords are known for, marbled with red. This is one of the easiest swords to grow and does well in a low-tech tank with modest lighting.
Plant Care
Type: rosette sword plant · Height: up to 12 in · Light: low · CO2: not required · Temp: 67–84°F · pH: 6.3–7.8
Planting Tips
Fits tanks of 10 gallons or more. Plant the roots in the substrate with the crown sitting just above it. Swords feed mainly through their roots, so tuck a root tab nearby every few months.
Why Shrimp Keepers Like It
The broad, sturdy leaves are perfect grazing pads for shrimp and gather biofilm all day. The plant uses up nitrate as it grows, and its rosette makes a shaded spot where molting shrimp can rest.
