Low light is fine but growth is slow. Tie it down tightly or wedge it in rock; keep algae off it.

The Plant
Monosolenium tenerum is an Asian liverwort that is often sold, wrongly, as Pellia. It looks like a bigger version of Riccia, stays low at about 2 to 5 cm, and grows into soft cushions. Once it settles in, it is very easy to keep.

Comes as a Tropica tissue culture cup: grown in lab gel, so it arrives free of snails, algae, pests and pesticides. Rinse off the gel and split it into small portions to plant.

Plant Care
Type: Moss (a liverwort)
Origin: Asia
Growth rate: Medium
Height: 3 to 5+ cm (after about two months)
Light: Medium (0.5 W/L)
CO2: Medium (6 to 14 mg/L)

Planting Tips
Tie it to stones with fishing line, or tuck small clumps in among other low plants such as Eleocharis. Handle it gently; it is brittle and pieces snap off easily.

Why Shrimp Keepers Like It
Biofilm and fine food settle into the cushions for shrimp to graze, and baby shrimp hide deep inside them.
