Moderate light and root feeding. Slow to spread at first and can be overgrown by algae before it fills in.

The Plant
Lilaeopsis brasiliensis is a very compact runner plant from South America with short, grassy blades. Under strong light it fills in as a low lawn about 4 to 7 cm tall. It also grows in garden ponds and puts up with a little salt in brackish tanks.

Comes as a Tropica tissue culture cup: grown in lab gel, so it arrives free of snails, algae, pests and pesticides. Rinse off the gel and split it into small portions to plant.

Plant Care
Type: Runner plant
Origin: South America
Height: 3 to 5+ cm (after about two months)
Light: Medium
CO2: Medium

Planting Tips
Plant small clumps a few cm apart so they join up faster. Give it an open spot in the foreground where taller plants won't shade it.

Why Shrimp Keepers Like It
A thick, low lawn traps biofilm and fine food for shrimp to graze, and shrimplets can shelter between the blades.
