Bladder Snails
Physella acuta
The Snail
Bladder snails: tiny, thin-shelled snails that clean up leftover food, dead leaves and algae film. Grow to about 0.5 inch. Pick how many above. Photos show typical snails, not the exact ones you will get.
Care
Very hardy: about 65 to 82°F and pH 7.0 to 8.0. Any size tank. Never use copper.
Why Shrimp Keepers Like It
A busy clean-up crew that never bothers shrimp or healthy plants. They breed fast in tanks with extra food, so feed lightly to keep their numbers in check.
Tank Mates
Good with shrimp, other snails and peaceful fish. Avoid: loaches, puffers and assassin snails, which eat them.
