The Plant
Anubias nana 'Pinto' is one of the rarer anubias in the hobby and one of the smallest, known for its striking leaf coloring. Its round leaves grow to about 3 inches, and the plant stays under about 7 inches tall. It is native to Africa, farmed worldwide, and very easy. Choose potted or bare root.
Plant Care
Type: Rhizome · Origin: Africa · Height: up to 7 in. · Light: Low · CO2: Not required · Temp: 75-82°F · pH: 6.8-7.8
Planting Tips
If potted, take it out of the pot. Tie or glue the rhizome to rock, driftwood or decor in the midground of a tank of 5 gallons or more, and keep it above the substrate. Cut the rhizome to make a new plant.
Why Shrimp Keepers Like It
The colorful leaves stand out next to plain green plants and red or blue shrimp. They hold biofilm for grazing and give shrimplets shelter, and shrimp never eat it.
