10 Gold Mystery Snails (Pomacea bridgesii)

The Snail
This pack brings 10 gold mystery snails (Pomacea bridgesii). They have a bright yellow, round shell and a beige body. The species comes from South America, and these are captive bred. They are calm, active day and night, and live up to about 3 years. Never use copper-based treatments around them.

Care
Temp: 68 to 84°F · pH: 7.6 to 8.4 · GH: 6 to 8 · KH: 2 to 12 · Tank: 10 gallons or more · Keep a lid on: they sometimes climb above the waterline.

Why Shrimp Keepers Like It
They clean up soft algae, leftover food and decaying plant matter around the clock, and they are peaceful with shrimp and healthy plants. In soft water, a piece of cuttlebone helps keep the gold shell smooth. Their preferred water overlaps well with Neocaridina, and the gold shell stands out against dark substrate.

Tank Mates
Good with: shrimp, other snails and calm community fish such as small tetras, rasboras, corydoras and otocinclus. Avoid: loaches, puffers, crayfish, crabs and large cichlids, which eat snails, and fin nippers like tiger barbs that pick at their feelers. Assassin snails may go after small mystery snails.
