The Plant
Leptodictyum riparium, also called stringy moss, a moss found all over the world. It grows in thin, upright strands of bright green with a slightly see-through look. It is easy, hardy and handles both cool and warm water, which makes it a popular beginner and nano tank moss.
Comes as a Tropica tissue culture cup: grown in lab gel, so it arrives free of snails, algae, pests and pesticides. Rinse off the gel and split it into small portions to plant.
Plant Care
Type: Moss
Origin: Cosmopolitan (found worldwide)
Growth rate: Medium
Height: 3 to 10+ cm (after about two months)
Light: Medium (0.5 W/L)
CO2: Medium (6 to 14 mg/L)
Planting Tips
Attach it to rock or roots. It grows fast, so trim it often to keep it tidy.
Why Shrimp Keepers Like It
Moss is a classic shrimp plant. Biofilm and fine food settle into it for shrimp to graze, and baby shrimp hide deep inside it.
