The Plant
A narrow-leaf form of Rotala macrandra from Asia. Grown underwater it forms small, slender, pinkish-red leaves, and its color is richest under bright light with injected CO2.
Plant Care
Type: stem plant · Origin: Asia · Height: up to 14 in · Light: moderate to high · CO2: recommended · Temp: 75–82°F · pH: 6.5–7.4
Planting Tips
Plant stems in small groups in the midground or background of a tank of 15 gallons or more. Trim often and replant the cut tops to build a fuller bush.
Why Shrimp Keepers Like It
Groups of fine stems make thick cover where shrimplets can hide and graze biofilm. It grows steadily under good light and takes up nitrate as it does, and the pink tones make red or blue shrimp stand out.
