Slow, compact grower in medium light; CO2 helps. Tips turn reddish under strong light.

The Plant
Rotala indica 'Bonsai' is a compact cultivar that suits nano tanks. Under strong light the stem tips can blush red. In lower light the leaves grow bigger and the plant gets looser and less compact.

Comes as a Tropica tissue culture cup: grown in lab gel, so it arrives free of snails, algae, pests and pesticides. Rinse off the gel and split it into small portions to plant.

Plant Care
Type: Stem plant
Origin: Cultivar
Growth rate: Slow
Height: 5 to 20+ cm (after about two months)
Light: Medium
CO2: Medium

Planting Tips
Plant it in small groups and trim it often. Replant the cut tops to thicken the group or spread it into a low carpet.

Why Shrimp Keepers Like It
The small, tight stems give shrimp lots of surface to graze, and its slow growth keeps a nano shrimp tank easy to manage.
