This item is provided by our friends at AquaticMotiv ↗ (opens in a new tab) (Price Matched)
The Plant
A large sword with long leaves in a blend of green and red, sent as a potted plant. It is amphibious and will push leaves above the waterline unless pruned. Hardy and beginner friendly, it makes a bold centerpiece.
Plant Care
Type: rosette sword plant, potted · Origin: the Americas · Height: up to 24 in · Light: low to moderate · CO2: not required · Temp: 72–82°F · pH: 6.0–7.8
Planting Tips
Give it room in a tank of 20 gallons or more. Slide it out of the pot, gently pull away the rock wool, and plant the roots with the crown just above the substrate. Add root tabs, and trim any leaves that reach for the surface.
Why Shrimp Keepers Like It
Its long leaves make shady lanes for shrimp to hide in and wide surfaces to graze biofilm from. A big sword uses a lot of nitrate, which helps keep shrimp water clean.
