Medium to strong light and fertiliser to carpet; slow to settle. CO2 helps it spread.

The Plant
Ranunculus inundatus is a compact carpet plant from Australia with deeply cut leaves shaped a bit like small umbrellas. It sends up lots of runners that root new plantlets, and over time it covers the bottom thickly. Most other Ranunculus get tall and leggy in tanks; this one stays tidier.

Comes as a Tropica tissue culture cup: grown in lab gel, so it arrives free of snails, algae, pests and pesticides. Rinse off the gel and split it into small portions to plant.

Plant Care
Type: Carpet plant
Origin: Australia
Growth rate: Medium
Height: 5 to 20+ cm (after about two months)
Light: Low
CO2: Low

Planting Tips
Plant small portions in the foreground. Good light keeps it short and compact, and you can trim back leaves that grow too long.

Why Shrimp Keepers Like It
The dense, finely cut leaves trap biofilm and fine food for shrimp to graze, and shrimplets shelter underneath.
