The Plant
Narrow-leaf chain sword (Echinodorus tenellus), also called pygmy chain sword or mini sword, is a green foreground plant from Central and North America with long, very narrow leaves. It is surprisingly hardy and easy, good for beginners. With good light and some fertilizer it spreads quickly into a lush carpet.

Plant Care
Type: Carpet · Origin: Central and North America · Height: Up to 4 in · Light: Moderate · CO2: Not required · Temp: 74–82°F · pH: 6.5–7.6

Planting Tips
Plant it in the foreground of a tank of 10 gallons or more. It does not need CO2 or very strong light, but it benefits from both, and some fertilizer helps it spread.

Why Shrimp Keepers Like It
It makes great shelter for shrimp and small bottom feeders, and a dense patch gives shrimplets somewhere to hide while the adults graze the leaves.
