Medium to strong light and steady fertiliser to carpet well. It can grow without CO2 but is patchy and slow; 6 in low tech.

The Plant
Micranthemum tweediei 'Monte Carlo' comes from Argentina. Small, round, light green leaves grow on creeping stems that spread quickly into a carpet across the front of the tank.

Comes as a Tropica tissue culture cup: grown in lab gel, so it arrives free of snails, algae, pests and pesticides. Rinse off the gel and split it into small portions to plant.

Plant Care
Type: Carpet plant
Origin: South America
Growth rate: Medium
Height: 3 to 5+ cm (after about two months)
Light: Medium
CO2: Medium

Planting Tips
Plant small portions across the foreground. It can handle a little shade, but good light keeps it low and tight, and added CO2 gives the fullest, most compact carpet.

Why Shrimp Keepers Like It
A dense carpet traps biofilm and fine food for shrimp to graze, and shrimplets shelter between the leaves.
