The Plant
Mexican oak leaf (Shinnersia rivularis) is a stem plant from Central America. Underwater it grows broad, wrinkled leaves in light green and pink, unlike any other plant. It tolerates a range of water and is easy to keep.

Plant Care
Type: Stem plant · Origin: Central America · Height: Up to 16 in · Light: Low to moderate · CO2: Not required · Temp: 72–82°F · pH: 6.2–7.6

Planting Tips
Use it in the midground or background of a tank of 15 gallons or more. Trim it regularly, then replant the cut tops in the substrate to fill out the group.

Why Shrimp Keepers Like It
A full group of stems gives shrimp plenty of leaf surface to graze and makes cover for shrimplets and small fish.
