Mexican Dwarf Orange Crayfish

Cambarellus patzcuarensis

Sale price  $19.99 Regular price  $24.99
Hardy and small, but needs hiding spots for molting and will eat shrimplets. Not for tanks with large or aggressive fish.

The Crayfish
A dwarf crayfish in bright tangerine orange, often called the CPO. Adults stay small, about 1.5 to 2 inches, so they fit a nano tank. Sold singly.

Origin
The wild form comes from Lake Pátzcuaro in Michoacán, Mexico. The orange color is a captive-bred line.

Care Basics
About 65 to 78°F and pH 7.0 to 8.0. A 10-gallon or larger, fully cycled tank with caves, plants or wood to hide in while molting. Eats sinking pellets, algae wafers and blanched vegetables. Leave the shed shell in the tank; they eat it back for calcium.

Tank Mates
Peaceful for a crayfish and won't chase healthy fish, but it will eat shrimplets and anything small that sits still. Adult shrimp usually do fine. Skip large cichlids and puffers, which eat crayfish.

Shipping Limits
Some states don't allow this crayfish, so checkout won't ship it to them. Never release it, or any aquarium animal, into the wild.
