The Plant
Ludwigia palustris is a stem plant from North, Central and South America. Underwater it grows broad, spade-shaped leaves: green on the lower half, bright red on top, and fully red after a longer time submerged. It tolerates a range of water and is easy to keep. You get one pot.

Plant Care
Type: Stem plant · Origin: North, Central and South America · Height: Up to 12 in · Light: Low to moderate · CO2: Optional, recommended · Temp: 75–82°F · pH: 5.7–7.8

Planting Tips
Use it in the midground or background of a tank of 15 gallons or more. Trim it regularly, then replant the cut tops in the substrate to fill out the group.

Why Shrimp Keepers Like It
Its broad leaves are wide grazing plates for shrimp, and a thick group gives shrimplets and small fish cover. The red stands out behind blue or yellow shrimp.
