Needs medium to high light and regular fertiliser; CO2 brings out the purple. Grows fast once settled.

The Plant
Limnophila aromatica is a stem plant from Asia. Grown under water, it forms long, slender leaves in red and green. It is fairly hardy and adapts to a range of water, but it is a medium-care plant: it needs CO2 and stronger light to grow well and hold its color. Best for keepers ready to run CO2.

Plant Care
Type: Stem plant · Origin: Asia · Height: Up to 18 in · Light: Moderate to high · CO2: Required · Temp: 75-82°F · pH: 5.7-7.4

Planting Tips
Plant it in the background of a tank of 15 gallons or more. Trim it often; replant the cut tops in the substrate and they root, filling the group out.

Why Shrimp Keepers Like It
The fine leaves trap biofilm and make soft cover for shrimplets, and the color pops behind red or blue shrimp. As a fast-filling stem it also uses up spare nitrate.
