The Plant
Kleiner Bar is a hybrid sword, a cross of Echinodorus barthii and Echinodorus uruguayensis. Its broad leaves start green and take on copper to red tones under water when light and nutrients are right. It is hardy and easy for beginners. It can also grow out of the water, so trim leaves that reach for the surface.

Planting Tips
Give it a spot with room to spread in a tank of 20 gallons or more. Keep the crown above the substrate; root tabs help the red come through.
Why Shrimp Keepers Like It
The wide leaves are prime grazing space for biofilm, and the copper-red color makes a nice contrast with bright shrimp. Its shade is a safe spot for babies.
