Medium light and fertiliser keep it bushy. Fast; trims into a low bush or grows tall. CO2 helps.

The Plant
Heteranthera zosterifolia, a stem plant from South America with narrow, bright green leaves. Left alone it grows tall; trimmed, it can be kept as a low bush. It fits the midground or background.

Comes as a Tropica tissue culture cup: grown in lab gel, so it arrives free of snails, algae, pests and pesticides. Rinse off the gel and split it into small portions to plant.

Plant Care
Origin: South America
Height: 20 to 30+ cm
Light: Low
CO2: Medium

Planting Tips
Push the portions into the substrate. Trim the tops if you want a low bush, or let it grow up toward the back of the tank.

Why Shrimp Keepers Like It
The thin stems and leaves give shrimp plenty of surface to graze, and growing stems help take up nitrate and ammonia.
