Giant Asian Freshwater Clam x3
This item is provided by our friends at AquaticMotiv ↗ (opens in a new tab) (Price Matched)
The Clam
This pack brings 3 giant Asian freshwater clams. They come mainly from Asia. Young clams have a yellow shell that darkens to dark brown or black with age, and they can reach about 6 inches. They like to bury themselves in fine substrate and are very peaceful. Choose 1-2 or 2-3.5 inch clams. Some may show old shell damage from the wild.
Care
Temp: 62-85°F · pH: 6.8-8.2 · GH: 6-8 · KH: 2-12 · Tank: 15 gallons or more · Clams are restricted in some states, including Indiana, New York and Wisconsin. Check your state's rules before you order.
Why Shrimp Keepers Like It
Clams pull leftover food and fine debris out of the water, which can help keep it clear. Be realistic, though: they are filter feeders, and in a clean, lightly stocked planted tank they often starve. Give them fine sand to burrow in, feed crushed invertebrate pellets or sticks near them, and never use copper.
Tank Mates
Good with: shrimp, snails and peaceful community fish. Avoid: puffers, which eat clams.
