This item is provided by our friends at AquascapeGuide ↗ (opens in a new tab) (Price Matched)
The Plant
Taxiphyllum 'Flame', also called Asian flame moss. Instead of spreading flat, it grows tight, upright shoots with a soft wave, like deep green flames. It spreads sideways only slowly.
Comes as a Tropica tissue culture cup: grown in lab gel, so it arrives free of snails, algae, pests and pesticides. Rinse off the gel and split it into small portions to plant.
Plant Care
Type: Moss
Origin: Asia
Growth rate: Slow
Height: 3 to 10+ cm (after about two months)
Light: Low
CO2: Low
Planting Tips
It looks best on flat, horizontal surfaces. Attach it to small stones, or tie small bundles onto roots and wood.
Why Shrimp Keepers Like It
Moss is the classic shrimp plant. Biofilm and fine food settle into it for shrimp to graze, and baby shrimp hide deep inside it.
