The Plant
Dwarf cardinal plant (Lobelia cardinalis 'Dwarf') comes from North America. Grown out of water, its round leaves are green on top and bright purple underneath; grown fully underwater, it turns all green. It tolerates a range of water, grows at a medium pace and is easy to keep. You get one bunch.
Plant Care
Type: Foreground · Origin: North America · Height: Up to 10–12 in · Light: Low to moderate · CO2: Optional, recommended · Temp: 75–82°F · pH: 5.7–7.8
Planting Tips
Plant it in the foreground of a tank of 15 gallons or more. Expect the purple undersides to fade to green once it settles underwater.
Why Shrimp Keepers Like It
Its round leaves give shrimp flat surfaces to graze, and a group makes shelter for small fish, fry and shrimplets.
