The Fish
The diptail (hockey stick) pencilfish: a slim fish that swims at a head-up tilt. Grows to about 2 inches. Photos show a typical fish, not the exact one you will get.

Origin
Slow waters of the Amazon and Rio Negro.

Care Basics
About 75 to 82°F and pH 5.5 to 7.0. A 15-gallon or larger, planted, with floating plants. Eats small flakes, micro pellets and baby brine shrimp.

Tank Mates
Peaceful; keep 6 or more. A good shrimp tank mate: leaves adult shrimp alone, may eat some shrimplets.
