The Plant
Christmas moss (Vesicularia montagnei), also called Xmas moss, comes from Southeast Asia and is one of the easiest mosses to grow. It is extremely hardy, needs no CO2 (though it benefits from it) and adjusts to almost any water. It is a good, low-maintenance alternative to java moss. You get one 2 x 2 inch portion.
Plant Care
Type: Moss · Origin: Southeast Asia · Height: Up to 4 in · Light: Low · CO2: Not required · Temp: 70–82°F · pH: 6.5–7.6
Planting Tips
Tie or attach it to driftwood, rock or decor; it grows best fixed to a surface. To spread it, divide it into small pieces and attach them in new spots. Works in tanks of 5 gallons or more.
Why Shrimp Keepers Like It
Moss is a shrimp favorite. The dense growth traps biofilm and food bits that shrimp pick through all day, and baby shrimp hide deep inside it.
