The Plant
Dark Skeleton brings an unusual leaf texture, with glossy dark green leaves that carry burgundy tones. It grows slowly and steadily and is happy in low light. AquaticMotiv lists a maximum size of 8 inches, bigger than most Buce.
Plant Care
Type: Rhizome plant · Origin: Borneo, Indonesia · Growth: Slow · Height: up to 8 in · Light: Low to moderate · CO2: Not required · Temp: 75-82°F · pH: 6.8-7.8
Planting Tips
Give it a spot on wood or stone with room to fill out, and keep the rhizome out of the substrate. Divide the rhizome when you want more plants.
Why Shrimp Keepers Like It
A larger Buce makes a sheltered patch where shrimplets can hide from tankmates. Its long-lived leaves grow a steady layer of biofilm, and the plant helps take up nitrate.
