The Plant
A tiny anubias, Anubias barteri var. nana 'Petite', already growing on a small rock. The round green leaves are about an inch wide, and the plant stays under 3 inches tall. It handles a wide range of water and is very easy.
Plant Care
Type: Rhizome, mounted · Origin: Africa · Height: up to 3 in. · Light: Low to moderate · CO2: Not required · Temp: 75–82°F · pH: 6.8–7.8
Planting Tips
Place the rock in the foreground or midground of a tank of 10 gallons or more and you are done. Because it is on a rock, you can move it any time while you rearrange. Split the rhizome later to spread it onto other stones.
Why Shrimp Keepers Like It
Small enough for nano shrimp tanks, it gives shrimp a leafy spot to graze biofilm and a hiding place for babies. Shrimp never eat it, and the rock keeps it anchored even when shrimp are busy digging around the base.
