The Plant
Anubias 'Chili Jalapeno' is a compact, slow-growing Anubias barteri cultivar. Its firm, dense, oval leaves are deep green with bronze hints that show more under strong lighting. Like other anubias from West African stock, it can grow submerged or emersed, and its thick leaves resist algae. It ships in a 1.5 inch pot.
Plant Care
Type: Rhizome · Origin: West Africa · Height: up to 3 in. · Light: Low · CO2: Not required · Temp: 75-82°F · pH: 6.8-7.8
Planting Tips
Take it out of the pot and tie or glue the rhizome to rock or driftwood in a tank of 5 gallons or more. Keep the rhizome above the substrate. Cut the rhizome to make a new plant.
Why Shrimp Keepers Like It
It stays small enough for nano shrimp tanks, gives shrimplets shelter, and holds biofilm on its leaves for grazing. Shrimp never eat it, and it needs almost no trimming.
