Amazon Frogbit (Limnobium Laevigatum)

The Plant
Amazon frogbit (Limnobium laevigatum), also called spongeplant, is a floating plant first found in Central and South America. Round leaves sit on the surface while the roots hang down into the water. It is rated very easy and settles into almost any freshwater tank or pond. Choose a pack of 3 or 6 plants.

Plant Care
Type: Floating · Origin: Central and South America · Light: Low · CO2: Not required · Temp: 60–82°F · pH: 6.0–7.8

Planting Tips
Just set it on the surface; nothing goes in the substrate. Keep it out of strong filter outflow so the leaves stay dry on top. Scoop out extra plants now and then so it never covers the whole surface. Use a tank of 10 gallons or more.

Why Shrimp Keepers Like It
Floating plants take ammonia and nitrate straight from the water, which keeps conditions steadier for shrimp. The hanging roots grow biofilm, and shrimp often climb them to graze. The shade also helps shy shrimp come out more.
