Needs warm water (76-84 F), pH 7.5 or higher and regular sinking food. Breeds very slowly and can go hungry in a very clean tank.

The Snail
Chocolate rabbit snails (Tylomelania zemis) come from freshwater lakes in Indonesia and are among the most common rabbit snails kept. You may also see them called Sulawesi, elephant or giant rabbit snails. The long, smooth spiral shell is light brown, and they can reach about 4 inches. Wild shells may show old damage. They live up to 3 years; keep copper out of their tank.

Care
Temp: 77 to 84°F · pH: 7.6 to 8.4 · GH: 6 to 8 · KH: 4 to 8 · Size: Up to 4 in · Tank: 20 gallons or more

Why Shrimp Keepers Like It
They roam the substrate day and night, eating algae, pellets, flakes and the decaying plant bits shrimp miss. They are gentle with plants and tankmates and won't overpopulate. They like it warmer and more alkaline than many shrimp tanks run, so check your numbers first.

Tank Mates
Good with: shrimp and other snails that like the same warm, hard water, plus peaceful community fish. They suit a Neocaridina tank kept on the warm side. Avoid: loaches, puffers, crayfish, crabs and large cichlids, and tanks kept cool.
