The Plant
Taxiphyllum 'Taiwan Moss', a moss from Asia whose exact species has not been confirmed. It grows sideways and trails down, a bit like a small weeping moss. It suits moss walls and branchy wood, and it is handy for hiding equipment.
Comes as a Tropica tissue culture cup: grown in lab gel, so it arrives free of snails, algae, pests and pesticides. Rinse off the gel and split it into small portions to plant.
Plant Care
Type: Moss
Origin: Asia
Growth rate: Medium
Height: 3 to 10+ cm (after about two months)
Light: Low
CO2: Low
Planting Tips
Tie or glue it to branched wood or an upright rock face. It is easy in a basic tank, and brighter light plus a little added CO2 make it grow faster and branch more.
Why Shrimp Keepers Like It
The fine, trailing fronds trap biofilm and food for shrimp to graze, and shrimplets can shelter inside.
