About
Manzanita is a dense hardwood from a shrub that grows in the western US, mostly California. Its branches twist and fork on their own, so one piece can look like a tiny tree or a tangle of roots. Each branch is picked by hand, so yours will differ from the photos.

Specs
Material: Natural hardwood, long-lasting underwater · Origin: Western United States · Tannins: Very low, so water stays clear · Safe for fish, shrimp and plants

Using It
If the bark is still on, soak it in warm water for a few hours and peel it off. Scrub with hot water and a brush, no soap. Boil it for 1–2 hours if it fits a pot; otherwise soak it under a weight and change the water until it sinks. Tie on moss, anubias, java fern or bucephalandra, and shrimp will graze the biofilm on every branch.
