Juncus repens

Medium light and fertiliser; turns red-tinged in strong light. Slow to spread; CO2 helps.

The Plant
Juncus repens is a grass-like plant that grows at a steady, moderate pace. Under moderate light it stays green; with strong light and plenty of micronutrients it turns reddish-brown. It's easy to keep and doesn't ask for much.

Comes as a Tropica tissue culture cup: grown in lab gel, so it arrives free of snails, algae, pests and pesticides. Rinse off the gel and split it into small portions to plant.

Plant Care
Origin: North America
Growth rate: Medium
Height: 10 to 20+ cm (after about two months)
Light: Medium (0.5 W/L)
CO2: Medium (6 to 14 mg/L)

Planting Tips
Plant small portions in the substrate. Like a stem plant, it can be grown on from cuttings.

Why Shrimp Keepers Like It
Thick clumps trap biofilm and bits of food for shrimp to graze, and baby shrimp shelter between the leaves.
