Needs strong light and CO2 to stay flat. Without them it grows tall and leggy instead of carpeting.

The Plant
Glossostigma elatinoides, one of the smallest aquarium plants and a favorite in Japanese-style aquascapes. It stays about 2 to 3 cm tall and carpets the foreground. It's on the harder side: without strong light it stretches upward instead of staying low.

Comes as a Tropica tissue culture cup: grown in lab gel, so it arrives free of snails, algae, pests and pesticides. Rinse off the gel and split it into small portions to plant.

Plant Care
Type: Carpet plant
Origin: Australia
Growth rate: High
Height: 3 to 5+ cm (after about two months)
Light: High
CO2: High

Planting Tips
Plant it in small clumps a few centimeters apart so they join up faster. Keep taller plants from shading it. Added CO2 and soft water make a big difference.

Why Shrimp Keepers Like It
A dense carpet traps biofilm and fine food for shrimp to graze, and shrimplets shelter between the leaves.
