Easy and slow. Moderate light; stays low and compact with very little care.

The Plant
Lobelia cardinalis 'Mini', a cultivar that began as a mutation of the regular cardinal lobelia. It is much smaller, with light green leaves packed closer together on the stem. It grows low and dense, branches on its own even without trimming, and rarely sends up the tall shoots the full-size plant does.

Comes as a Tropica tissue culture cup: grown in lab gel, so it arrives free of snails, algae, pests and pesticides. Rinse off the gel and split it into small portions to plant.

Plant Care
Type: Stem plant
Origin: North America
Growth rate: Medium
Height: 3 to 15+ cm (after about two months)
Light: 0.5 W/L
CO2: 6 to 14 mg/L

Planting Tips
Cut shoots root easily: just push them into the substrate. It stays most compact with good light and added CO2, but it also grows fine without CO2.

Why Shrimp Keepers Like It
Its low, dense growth collects biofilm for shrimp to pick at and gives them cover near the substrate.
