Easy in low light with root tabs. It often melts after planting, then grows back from the roots in a few weeks.

The Plant
Cryptocoryne 'Lutea' is a hardy crypt found in shallow rivers in Sri Lanka, Indonesia and the Philippines. Its broad, long leaves are green on top and paler underneath, and it grows to around 8 inches. It is easy enough for a first planted tank.

Plant Care
Type: Rooted · Origin: Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Philippines · Height: Up to 8 in · Light: Low · CO2: Not required · Temp: 74 to 82°F · pH: 6.5 to 7.6

Planting Tips
Plant it in the midground and keep conditions steady; a move or sudden change can cause melt, but it regrows from the roots. Feed with liquid fertilizer and trim now and then to keep it compact. It spreads with runners.

Why Shrimp Keepers Like It
The wide leaves are great biofilm surfaces for grazing shrimp, and a low-light crypt fits the simple, no-CO2 setup most shrimp tanks use. It soaks up nitrate too.
