Easy in low light with root tabs. It often melts after planting, then grows back from the roots in a few weeks.

The Plant
Cryptocoryne lucens is a tough, beginner-friendly crypt from shallow rivers in Sri Lanka. It has narrow, bright green leaves on brown stems and stays under about 8 inches. Once it settles in, it sends out runners and fills in quickly.

Plant Care
Type: Rooted · Origin: Sri Lanka · Height: Up to 8 in · Light: Low to moderate · CO2: Not required · Temp: 74 to 82°F · pH: 6.5 to 7.6

Planting Tips
Set the roots in the substrate in the midground and try not to move it later; crypts may melt back after a disturbance and regrow. A regular liquid fertilizer helps, and an occasional trim keeps it bushy.

Why Shrimp Keepers Like It
Its slim leaves grow in dense clusters that shrimplets can slip into, and every leaf collects the biofilm shrimp graze on. It also draws down nitrate.
