Christmas Moss on Clay
This item is provided by our friends at AquaticMotiv ↗ (opens in a new tab) (Price Matched)
The Plant
This Christmas moss comes already grown onto a piece of clay. Christmas moss (Vesicularia montagnei), also called Xmas moss, comes from Southeast Asia and is one of the easiest mosses to grow. It is extremely hardy, needs no CO2 (though it benefits from it) and adjusts to almost any water. It is a good, low-maintenance alternative to java moss.
Plant Care
Type: Moss · Origin: Southeast Asia · Height: Up to 4 in · Light: Low · CO2: Not required · Temp: 70–82°F · pH: 6.5–7.8
Planting Tips
Set the piece where you want it in a tank of 5 gallons or more; the moss is already attached. To spread it, divide off small pieces and attach them to wood or rock.
Why Shrimp Keepers Like It
Moss is a shrimp favorite. The dense growth traps biofilm and food bits that shrimp pick through all day, and baby shrimp hide deep inside it.
