Size
Slow and easy: low to medium light and no CO2. Attach to wood or rock and keep the rhizome above the substrate.

The Plant
Red Melawi is a compact Buce with small leaves, about 1 inch long. The leaves are glossy green on reddish stems, which gives the plant a warm tone. It stays under about 2 inches and handles a slightly wider temperature range than most Buce.

Plant Care
Type: Rhizome plant · Origin: Borneo, Indonesia · Height: up to 2 in · Light: Low to moderate · CO2: Not required · Temp: 70-83°F · pH: 6.8-7.8

Planting Tips
It's a good fit for shaded spots with gentle flow. Attach it to hardscape and keep the rhizome out of the substrate. Cut the rhizome to spread it.

Why Shrimp Keepers Like It
Its small leaves form a tight mat where baby shrimp can hide and graze. The plant takes up nitrate, and shrimp keep its leaves clean of film.
