About
API's liquid test for nitrate in freshwater. Nitrate comes out of the nitrogen cycle and keeps building until you remove it; high levels can slow plant growth and stress fish.

Using It
Take a water sample, add the reagents, then match the color to the chart. Results take a few minutes. Test regularly and act fast on a high reading; for shrimp, aim to keep nitrate under about 20 ppm.
