API's liquid test for carbonate hardness (KH) in freshwater. KH shows how well your water resists pH swings, and sudden swings can stress or kill fish and plants.

Using It
Add the reagent to a water sample one drop at a time, swirling gently after each. Count the drops until the color changes; the drop count gives your KH. Shrimp do best when KH, and so pH, stays steady.
