This item is provided by our friends at AquaticMotiv ↗ (opens in a new tab) (Price Matched)
The Plant
Ammannia gracilis is an African stem plant. Grown underwater, it forms long, wavy leaves in red and green. It handles a range of water conditions but does best with some attention, so it is rated medium care.
Plant Care
Type: Stem plant · Origin: Africa · Height: up to 14 in. · Light: Moderate to high · CO2: Not required, but recommended · Temp: 75–82°F · pH: 5.7–7.4
Planting Tips
Plant it in the midground or background of a tank of 15 gallons or more. Plan on trimming it regularly. To make more, cut a stem and push the cutting into the substrate.
Why Shrimp Keepers Like It
A dense stand of stems gives shrimplets plenty of cover, and the growing plant uses up nitrate. The red leaves make a strong backdrop for blue, green or yellow shrimp, and the leaf surfaces grow biofilm for grazing.
