Easy algae grazer. Needs algae or extra food, GH about 6 or higher for its shell, and a lid. Its eggs won't hatch in fresh water.

The Snail
Tiger nerites wear an orange shell scattered with black dots. They come from India and are one of the most familiar nerites in the hobby. These are tough little snails that cope with a broad range of water, and they keep after algae at every hour, even pushing down into gravel to reach it.

Care
Temp: 72–82°F · pH: 6.8–8.4 · GH: 6–8 · Tank: 10 gallons or more · Lifespan: Up to 4 years

Why Shrimp Keepers Like It
They scrape film algae off glass, stone and wood without harming plants or shrimp, and they clean up food the colony misses. Their eggs need brackish water, so you may see white dots on hardscape but never a snail boom. Offer algae wafers or blanched zucchini when algae runs low, and keep copper out of the tank.

Tank Mates
Good with: shrimp of any size, other snails and peaceful nano or community fish. Avoid: loaches, puffers, crayfish, crabs and large cichlids, which eat snails. Assassin snails sometimes go after small nerites.
