The Snail
Spiked tower snails (Thiara winteri), also called Prambanan or spiky trumpet snails, come from Asia and are uncommon in the hobby. They have light brown, spiked shells, and most arrive at 0.75 to 1.25 inches. They are active day and night and live up to 3 years. You get 3 snails. They are wild-caught, so some shells may show wear.
Care
Temp: 75–82°F · pH: 6.8–7.6 · GH: 6–8 · KH: 4–8 · Tank: 20 gallons or more
Why Shrimp Keepers Like It
They are peaceful enough to keep with any fish and shrimp, and they spend their days eating algae, including off the glass. They also take algae wafers, invertebrate pellets, flake food, zucchini and dead plant matter. They are plant safe and won't overpopulate. Never use copper.
Tank Mates
Good with: shrimp, other snails and peaceful community fish. Avoid: assassin snails, which hunt other snails, and fish big enough to eat them.
