O-Ring Nerite Snails

The Snail
O-Ring nerites (Neritodryas javanica) are a harder-to-find nerite, sold here as a group of 3. They are extremely hardy, handle a wide range of water, and keep grazing day and night. They can live up to 4 years, and some shells may show small flaws.

Temp: 72–82°F · pH: 6.8–8.4 · Tank: 10 gallons or larger

Why Shrimp Keepers Like It
They eat algae off every surface, plus leftover pellets and dead plant matter, and they leave shrimp and plants alone. Their eggs only hatch in brackish water, so they won't overpopulate. Nerites like to climb, so a snug lid helps. Never use copper.

Tank Mates
Good with: shrimp of any size, other snails and peaceful nano or community fish. Avoid: loaches, puffers, crayfish, crabs and large cichlids, which eat snails. Assassin snails sometimes go after small nerites.
