The Snail
Hair nerite snails (Thiara cancellata) come from India and are some of the hardest to find in the hobby. They are hardy, at work around the clock, and good scavengers that will dig under the gravel for algae. They live up to 4 years. You get 3 snails. Some shells may show small flaws.
Care
Temp: 72–82°F · pH: 6.8–8.4 · GH: 6–8 · KH: 2–12 · Tank: 10 gallons or more
Why Shrimp Keepers Like It
They are strong algae eaters and also eat invertebrate pellets, zucchini and dead plant matter. They are safe with plants and shrimp. Never use copper.
Tank Mates
Good with: shrimp, other snails and peaceful community fish. Avoid: assassin snails, which hunt other snails, and fish big enough to eat them.
