Choose a Pack:
Easy algae grazer. Needs algae or extra food, GH about 6 or higher for its shell, and a lid. Its eggs won't hatch in fresh water.

The Snail
The yellow racer gets its name from the speed-stripe lines on its shell: black stripes over a red-yellow base, with no two patterns alike. It is one of the scarcer nerites, collected from fresh and brackish waters in the Philippines and Indonesia, so a shell may show a little wear. It stays small.

Care
Temp: 77–84°F · pH: 6.8–8.4 · GH: 6–8 · Size: Small · Tank: 10 gallons or more · Lifespan: Up to 5 years

Why Shrimp Keepers Like It
Racers work day and night, wiping film algae from glass and leaves without bothering plants or shrimp. They like the warm end of the range, so they pair well with a shrimp tank kept in the upper 70s. They cannot breed in freshwater, so there is no egg-to-snail boom. Keep copper out.

Tank Mates
Good with: shrimp of any size, other snails and peaceful nano or community fish. Avoid: loaches, puffers, crayfish, crabs and large cichlids, which eat snails. Assassin snails sometimes go after small nerites.
