White Wizard Trapdoor Snails

The Snail
White wizard snails are trapdoor snails with a spiraled shell in white to beige. Adults can reach about 2 inches long and 1.5 inches wide, though most arrive at 0.5 to 1 inch and grow quickly. They come from Southeast Asia, are fairly new to the hobby and are harder to find than most trapdoors. A hinged lid seals the shell when they feel threatened.

Care
Temp: 50–82°F · pH: 7.4–8.0 · GH: 6–8 · Size: Up to 2 inches · Tank: 10 gallons or more · Lifespan: Up to 5 years

Why Shrimp Keepers Like It
Slow and steady, they graze algae, biofilm and leftovers at all hours without bothering shrimp. They also suit ponds. They are heavy, though, and can flatten or pull up fine-stemmed plants in a dense scape. Keep copper out of the tank.

Tank Mates
Good with: shrimp, other snails and peaceful fish, in tanks or ponds. Avoid: loaches, puffers, crayfish and large cichlids. Assassin snails may go after small ones, and their weight can flatten thin, delicate plants.
