The Snail
Triangle rabbit snails (Tylomelania sinobartfeldi) come from the Larona River in Sulawesi, Indonesia. They stay much smaller than other rabbit snails but have the same elephant-like face. The shell is pointed and dark brown, and the face is black, sometimes spotted. Most arrive at 0.5 to 1 inch. They are very peaceful, active day and night, and live up to 3 years. You get 2 snails. They are wild-caught, so some shells may show wear.
Care
Temp: 77–84°F · pH: 7.6–8.4 · GH: 6–8 · KH: 4–8 · Tank: 10 gallons or more
Why Shrimp Keepers Like It
They eat algae, invertebrate pellets, flake food, zucchini and dead plant matter, so less leftover food sits in the tank. They are safe with plants and shrimp and won't overpopulate. They want warm, hard water. Never use copper.
Tank Mates
Good with: shrimp, other snails and peaceful fish that like the same warm, hard water. Avoid: assassin snails, which hunt other snails, and fish big enough to eat them.
