The Snail
Cappuccino spike snails (Faunus ater var. 'Cappuccino'), also called lava black devil snails, are a color form of the black devil spike snail from freshwater lakes in Southeast Asia. They have long, glossy spiral shells that can reach 3.5 inches. Most arrive small. Despite the name, they are fully peaceful, active day and night, and live up to 3 years. You get 2 snails. They are wild-caught, so some shells may show wear.
Care
Temp: 75–82°F · pH: 7.0–7.8 · GH: 6–8 · KH: 4–8 · Tank: 20 gallons or more
Why Shrimp Keepers Like It
They eat algae, invertebrate pellets, flake food, zucchini and dead plant matter, so less leftover food sits in the tank. They are safe with plants, other snails and invertebrates like shrimp, and they won't overpopulate. Never use copper.
Tank Mates
Good with: shrimp, other snails, other invertebrates and peaceful fish. Avoid: assassin snails, which hunt other snails, and fish big enough to eat them.
